Luke is moving out at the end of the week. He decided to go with the flat in Nakasero. I’ve been trying to think positively about the whole thing. It will be another space that we can hang out in. It’s kind of near work so it I won’t have to drive out of my way in order to visit. The building has a generator so it will be my safe haven when Umeme attacks. It’s not a bad thing. I just have to get used to living alone again.

Joaquin and his whirlwind wife have separated. He’s in Egypt, she’s in Tibet – they are not on speaking terms. He’s gone from calling me everyday with updates to e-mailing me. I think the phone bills were adding up. He’s trying to get their wedding annulled. I’m guessing that might be possible, they’ve only been married for a couple of weeks. He hasn’t told his sister (my boss), apparently this isn’t the first time he’s made an irrational decision that she’s had to untangle him from. Last time he bought shares in a used car business in Detroit that turned out to be a front for some seriously dodgy dealings. She had to pay his legal bills. Looks like he might have some more legal dealings for her to make right.

Carrie and I are trying to plan a trip for Easter weekend. She wants to drive to Mombasa. If we’re going to Mombasa I’d rather fly, I don’t want to get there and need to sleep the whole holiday to recover from the ride only to have to get back in a car again to head back. And who’s going to drive? Forget that, we’ll fly. My university flatmate (Jane) invited me to her parents holiday home on the North Coast. She’s driving down from Mombasa with her friends, her parents aren’t going to be there. Sounds like a plan.
